Amarra Philanthropic Foundation

Amarra Philanthropic Foundation (APF) is a Section 8 organisation building an integrated justice ecosystem through legal aid, legal literacy, community partnerships, and systems change. Our approach combines strategies that drive change at the individual, community, and systemic levels. We work at three levels: with women navigating a legal problem, with the communities around them, and with the institutions that decide how the system behaves. Our work is guided on five core values: dignity, equity, inclusion, co creation and accountability.

OUR OPERATING APPROACH

Across every intervention we design, we hold ourselves to a single standard: a right is only real when it is available, accessible, affordable and appropriate for the person who holds it.

Accessible

We strengthen community-based legal support, creating trusted pathways that help people find guidance from the very first step.

Available

We work to address the barriers that come before legal recourse, from financial dependence to lack of support, so that seeking justice, by any route, becomes a choice people can actually make.

Affordable

We expand low-bono and pro bono pathways so cost does not decide whether a matter is pursued

Appropriate

We start from what resolution means to the person, not what the system is set up to deliver because justice is sometimes a court order, and often a document, an income, or a safe place to stay.

OUR COMMITMENTS

Harm is more than an act. It is an attack on a person's ability to decide. Justice, then, is not only a verdict, it is getting that ability back. We measure ourselves against three things
